BarnFen Terms of Service

By using BarnFen, you agree to these terms.

1. Service Description

BarnFen is a local-first bill-splitting service that helps users track shared expenses, calculate balances, manage settlements, and collaborate in groups across supported platforms.

2. Account & Authentication

You may sign in with supported methods such as Google Sign-In or GitHub Sign-In, or use guest or anonymous access where available. If you continue using a guest account without linking another sign-in method, you may not be able to recover access after changing devices, clearing app or browser data, or reinstalling the app. You are responsible for your device security, account credentials, and activity under your account. Third-party sign-in providers are also governed by their own terms and privacy practices.

3. User Data & Local Storage

To operate the service, we process account information and user-created data such as groups, members, expenses, settlements, invite data, and related history. Some protected operations run through Cloud Functions for Firebase. Because BarnFen is local-first, the app also stores synced local copies of relevant data and preferences on your device for offline use, performance, and smoother recovery. 4. Invite Links

If you generate or share an invite code or invite link, you are responsible for sharing it only with the people you intend to share it with. A valid invite may allow another user to join a group subject to the role, usage limits, expiry, and other settings on that invite. If you share a direct group link, it is intended to open an existing group for someone who already has access and does not by itself grant membership or permissions. We may limit, revoke, or disable sharing or collaboration features to protect the service or other users.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to misuse the service, including by creating false or misleading records, abusing invite or sharing flows, bypassing or probing security or rate limits, attempting unauthorized access, harassing other users, or interfering with the service's operation or security.

6. Account Deletion

You may delete your account in Settings. If you are the last admin of a group that still has other members, you must assign another admin before deletion can finish. Deleting your account removes account- linked data we control directly, but shared group history, audit logs, invite history, historical names, and other necessary records may remain where needed to preserve bookkeeping integrity or other users' records. Group memberships linked to your account may be converted to placeholder entries so shared groups remain internally consistent. Local copies stored on your device are outside remote deletion and may remain until the app clears them or you remove local app or browser data.

7. Availability & Changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, including sharing features, backend flows, or supported sign-in methods. We may also update these terms. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised terms.

8. Disclaimer

The service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or the absolute accuracy of financial calculations or user-entered records. You should verify important financial information independently.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BarnFen will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the service.

2. 帳號與身分驗證

你可以使用 Google Sign-In、GitHub Sign-In,或在可用情況下使用訪客或匿名模式。若你持續使用訪客帳號而未綁定其他登入方式,在更換裝置、清除 App 或瀏覽器資料,或重新安裝 App 後,可能無法找回存取權。你有責任保管裝置安全、帳號憑證,以及透過你帳號進行的操作。第三方登入提供者也受其自身條款與隱私實務約束。

3. 使用者資料與本機儲存

為提供服務,我們會處理帳號資訊與你建立的群組、成員、帳目、結算、邀請資料及相關歷史。部分受保護的操作會透過 Cloud Functions for Firebase 執行。BarnFen 採本機優先設計,因此 App 也會在你的裝置上儲存同步本機副本與偏好設定,用於離線使用、效能與較順暢的恢復。資料如何處理與保留,請參閱我們的隱私權政策

4. 邀請連結

若你建立或分享邀請碼或邀請連結,你應只與想分享的人分享。有效邀請可能依該邀請設定的角色、使用次數、有效期限與其他條件,允許其他使用者加入群組。若你分享直接群組連結,其用途是讓已擁有權限的人開啟既有群組,本身不會授予成員資格或權限。我們可能限制、撤銷或停用分享或協作功能,以保護服務或其他使用者。

5. 使用規範

你同意不濫用本服務,包括建立虛假或誤導紀錄、濫用邀請或分享流程、繞過或探測安全措施或速率限制、嘗試未經授權存取、騷擾其他使用者,或干擾服務的安全與運作。

6. 帳號刪除

你可以在設定中刪除帳號。若你仍是某個尚有其他成員群組的最後一位管理員,必須先指派其他管理員,刪除才可完成。刪除帳號會移除我們直接控制的帳號綁定資料,但共享群組歷史、稽核日誌、邀請歷史、歷史名稱與其他必要紀錄,可能因維持記帳完整性或其他使用者紀錄而保留。與你帳號連結的群組成員關係,可能會轉為暫時成員占位,以維持共享群組資料一致性。儲存在你裝置上的本機副本不屬於遠端刪除流程,可能會持續留存,直到 App 清除資料或你移除本機 App 或瀏覽器資料。

7. 服務可用性與變更

我們可能隨時變更、暫停或終止服務的任何部分,包括分享功能、後端流程或支援的登入方式。我們也可能更新本條款;更新後若你繼續使用本服務,即表示你接受修訂後的條款。

8. 免責聲明

在法律允許的範圍內,本服務按現況及可提供狀態提供,不附帶任何形式的保證。我們不保證服務會持續可用、完全無錯,也不保證財務計算或使用者輸入紀錄的絕對正確性。重要的財務資訊請你自行再次確認。

9. 責任限制

在法律允許的最大範圍內,BarnFen 不對因使用或無法使用本服務所產生的任何間接、附帶、特殊、衍生或懲罰性損害負責。
