Delete your BarnFen account

This page explains how users of BarnFen - 幫分 can request account deletion, including the in-app path and an email fallback, what data is deleted, what data may be retained, and whether any additional retention period applies.

Steps required to request deletion

  1. Preferred method: open the BarnFen app and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Scroll to Danger Zone and tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm the deletion request in the dialog.
  5. If prompted, sign in again to verify that you own the account before deletion completes.
  6. If you cannot access the app, email barnfen.app@gmail.com with the subject "BarnFen account deletion request" and include your linked email address, sign-in provider, and any recent group names that help us verify the request.
Important: Use the in-app flow whenever possible. If app access is unavailable, use the email path above so we can verify ownership before deletion.

Additional retention period No fixed extra retention period is applied to account-linked data we delete. Some shared bookkeeping records may be retained for as long as needed to preserve group history and other users' records.

Data deleted when your account is removed

  • Your authentication account in Firebase Authentication.
  • App-owned user profile and user state documents that are tied directly to your account.
  • Direct account links from your active member records inside groups. Those links are removed as part of the deletion flow.
Retained

Data that may be retained

  • Shared group transaction history, including expenses, settlements, and debt action logs that were already written into group records.
  • Historical name snapshots and internal identifiers stored with prior records when needed to preserve bookkeeping consistency or audit history.
  • Placeholder member entries that replace your previous group membership so that remaining groups stay internally consistent.
  • Device-local cached copies and preference settings stored on your phone, browser, or other device until the app clears them, overwrites them, or you remove local app or browser data.
Why are some records retained?

BarnFen is a shared bill-splitting product. If historical expense or settlement records were fully removed after one user deletes an account, other users' group balances and audit history could become inconsistent.

Is there a fixed retention deadline for shared records?

No fixed extra retention term is currently applied. Shared records are retained only where necessary to maintain bookkeeping integrity, audit trails, or other users' records inside shared groups.

What if I am the last admin in a group with other members?

You must transfer admin rights to another member before account deletion can finish. This prevents shared groups from being left without an administrator.

刪除帳號時會移除的資料

  • Firebase Authentication 中的驗證帳號。
  • 直接綁定到該帳號的 App 使用者資料與使用者狀態文件。
  • 你在群組中仍處於有效狀態的帳號連結。這些連結會在刪除流程中解除。
可能保留

刪除後仍可能保留的資料

  • 已寫入共享群組紀錄中的歷史交易資料,例如帳目、結算與債務操作日誌。
  • 為維持記帳一致性或稽核歷史而保留於既有紀錄中的名稱快照與內部識別資料。
  • 為了讓群組資料維持完整而轉換出的暫時成員紀錄。
  • 儲存在你的手機、瀏覽器或其他裝置上的本機快取副本與偏好設定,直到 App 清除、覆寫資料,或你移除本機 App 或瀏覽器資料為止。
為什麼有些資料不會一併刪除?

BarnFen - 幫分屬於共享分帳產品。如果某位使用者刪除帳號後,過往已寫入群組的帳目或結算紀錄也全部移除,其他成員的群組餘額、對帳結果與歷史紀錄可能會失真。

保留資料有固定期限嗎?

目前沒有設定固定的額外保留期限。共享歷史資料僅會在維持記帳完整性、稽核軌跡或其他使用者紀錄所必要的範圍內保留。

如果我仍是群組中最後一位管理員怎麼辦?

若你仍是某個還有其他成員的群組中的最後一位管理員,必須先將管理權限轉移給其他成員,帳號刪除流程才會完成。這是為了避免共享群組失去管理者。

如果我無法登入 App,該怎麼辦?

如無法進入 App,請來信 barnfen.app@gmail.com,並提供可驗證你身分的資訊。我們會先協助確認帳號所有權,再處理刪除申請或說明後續步驟。
